At the same time, the service provider will not be allowed to sell more than two SIM cards in the name of one person. Currently the same person is taking multiple SIM cards from one service provider. It is said that NEA has taken such a decision saying that giving too many SIM cards in the name of one person can lead to misuse.

“Having multiple SIM cards in the same person’s name can lead to misuse and can be used in various telecommunication related crimes,” said NEA spokesperson Min Prasad Aryal. ‘

Lately, SIM card is also associated with a person’s financial transactions. Spokesperson Aryal said that such a decision is necessary as banking transactions, mobile banking and other systems will be operated from the SIM card.

According to him, in the case of Nepal Telecom, one can get a maximum of two SIM cards and one landline. In the case of other service providers, it is not allowed to take more than two SIM cards in the name of one person.

It is mentioned that this provision will also be applicable in case of old SIM card. In the case of older users, the service provider will have to set a time limit and instruct them to transfer the name to another person if they have more than two SIM cards in their name.
