Tax Rate of Vehicles in Nepal for 2078-79: Vehicle tax, registration, renewal, and licensing fees have been drastically increased in the budget of the current Fiscal Year 2078/79 of Bagmati Province, which has been increasing in size even amidst the economy affected by the epidemic. The state government, which has taken the policy of encouraging electric vehicles, has also increased the tax on small-capacity electric vehicles.
Jeep car, van, and micro rent have been increased to a maximum of Rs 5,000 depending on the tax capacity. Earlier, the tax for rented jeeps and van micro was Rs 9,000 up to Rs 1,300 cc, but now it will be Rs 11,000 with a capacity of 1,000cc.
Minibus trucks tax has been increased by Rs 1,500 while the tax on big bus trucks has been increased by Rs 2,000 to Rs 20,000. The tax on rented oil tankers and gas bullets has been increased by Rs 4,000 to Rs 22,000. The tax has also been increased by Rs 500 on three-wheeler tempo and tractor.

Small-capacity Bikes and scooters tax rate, which have become essential for daily operations, has also been increased. The tax on large-capacity Bikes has been kept unchanged. The tax on Bikes up to 125cc has been increased by 200 to Rs 3,000, while the tax on 126 to 150cc bikes/scooters has been increased by 500 to 5,000.
The tax on Bikes from 150 to 225 cc has also been increased by Rs 500 and the tax on Bikes from 400cc by Rs 2,000.
The tax on bikes up to 650cc has been kept at Rs 20,000 while the tax on Bikes above 650cc has been kept at Rs 30,000.
Similarly, the tax on private vehicles has also been increased. Buyers of private jeeps and cars who have been paying a maximum of Rs 58,500 in taxes will have to pay Rs 65,000 in taxes from July 20. The tax on Jeep cars and vans up to 1,000cc has been increased from Rs 21,000 to Rs 1,000.
The tax for jeeps up to 1,500cc has been increased from Rs 23,500 to Rs 25,000. Tax on private excavators, dozer loaders, and cranes has also been increased by Rs 1,500. The tax on trippers has been fixed at Rs 39,000 while the tax on mini trippers has been increased from Rs 27,500 to Rs 30,000.
The tax on private mini trucks and minibusses has been increased by Rs 2,500 as per the Bagmati Economic Act, which came into force on July 20. According to the new rate, private mini trucks and buses will now be taxed at Rs 27,000. The tax on large private trucks and buses has also been increased by Rs 2,000 to Rs 35,000.
Electric vehicles also increased
The state government, which has adopted a policy of encouraging the purchase of electric vehicles to reduce fuel consumption and balance the environment in the state, has increased the tax on small-capacity electric vehicles. The state government has increased the tax on small-capacity electric bikes and scooters but has kept the tax on large-capacity electric vehicles unchanged.

The tax on electric bikes from 3350 watts to 1000 watts has been increased by Rs 500 to Rs 2,000, while the tax on electric bikes/scooters from 1500 watts has been increased to Rs 2,500. The tax on two-wheeled electrical devices above 1,500 watts has been kept unchanged at Rs 3,000. The tax on electric jeeps is also the same. The maximum tax for an electric Jeep car van has been fixed at Rs 30,000.
Increase in road permit fee
In Bagmati, not only vehicle tax and renewal fee but also road permit fee has been increased. The fare for large and medium buses up to 50 km has been increased by Rs 300 to Rs 800. You will have to pay a fee of one thousand rupees for a 50 km road permit for a large truck. Earlier, he had to pay Rs 600.

The road permit fee for large buses running over a distance of 600 km has been increased from Rs 28,000 to Rs 42,000 while the fee for large trucks has been increased from Rs 26,000 to Rs 43,000. Check pass certificate, transport service operation fee and other charges in the transport sector have also been increased.
