VoLTE on Nepal Telecom
Nepal Telecom has VoLTE launched, Voice over LTE (VoLTE) service for the first time in Nepal. NTC has stated that the service, which came into operation as a trial, will initially run on only a limited number of mobile sets.
According to Nepal Telecom launching VoLTE, the service is currently available only on 39 models of smartphones, including 31 from Samsung, 5 from Xiaomi, and 3 from Nokia. Efforts are being made to gradually expand the service to other mobiles as well.
To activate VoLTE, by dialing *444# and pressing 2, Telecom’s VoLTE service is activated on your mobile number. But for this, your mobile set has to support this service, and also the concerned mobile manufacturer company has to enable Telecom this service in their system & should 4g device compatible 4G sim card as well.
According to Director, Mobile Directorate, Nepal Telecom, discussions are underway with mobile vendor brands through various vendors. “We called it a test because it didn’t run on all sets,”.
Although the iPhone supports VoLTE, there are some problems in receiving SMS while staying in VoLTE. Telecom is in talks with iPhone maker Apple to resolve the issue.
If VOLTE activation does not work well on your mobile, you can deactivate this service by dialing *444# and pressing 3. The telco will also provide a separate pack for voice and video calls to test the VoLTE service.
Using this service does not cost your mobile data. As it runs through the voice network, the fee will be the same as a regular voice call.

However, the NTC is preparing to bring other packages for this service tomorrow. In that case, you will get a cheaper package for video and voice calls on VoLTE, such as voice calls and data.
Customers who currently subscribe to this service will be able to use this service for 100 minutes for the first time for free. For that, you have to dial *111# and choose the free package available in it.
You can dial this number only if VOLTE is running on your mobile. This means that the easiest way to find out if your VOLTE service is running on your mobile is to dial *111#.
Because this number cannot be dialed from 4G without 2G, 3G, and VoLTE. Necessary packs can be taken only when this service is running.
After doing so, press a few times to turn on the data on your mobile. Now click on the place where Nepal Telecom is and turn on the Use VoLTE service below.
If this service is operated on your mobile, VoLTE will appear on the top of the mobile tower. If you don’t see it in normal condition, you can find out if you go to the data turning point as before.
If this service is enabled on your mobile, you can experience HD voice calls by dialing any other VOLTE active number. Also, the option of video call will be seen in the dial pad just like voice call.
Telecom is updating the list of mobile sets that support VoLTE service on its website. If you are in a rural area and do not have 800 MHz 4G support on your mobile, you cannot use Telecom’s 4G LTE Network and services.
But this service can be run even if you have 4G support of 1800 MHz or your mobile is running 4G service in urban areas and the mobile set you are using is in the list of mobiles that can use service.
